The time schedule for new Friends plugin?

Do you have a rough time schedule for the new Friends plugin? if yes, I would like to know. My site is supposed to be released in the coming 2 months, I wonder can I release my site with this feature, thanks!

Furthermore, my site is running in subdirectories mode, hope the new Friends plugin would support subdirectories.

btw, will the subdirectories supported Avatar plugin be ready in the coming days? I would like to include this feature in my site’s first realese, thanks a lot ! :slight_smile:

    The avatar plugin should work just fine on a directory install. What problem are you experiencing?

    I’ll see about fixing the comments problem this evening. However users are pretty much on their own when integrating it with other plugins.

    As for the friends plugin, it’s being retired. It really needs to be recoded from scratch and that’s just not something we’re interested in doing at this time.

    For me, I used the same function which used for comments to integrate with other plugins, so fix the problem on comments, will also fix the problems of integrating with other plugins :slight_smile:

    please make a note for the subdirectories support for the new Friends plugins, the current Friends plugin can not work in subdirectories, it displays every friend as the main blog, http://yoursite.com, thanks a lot!

    I hope it would be worth because the friends plugin is a key role in the social network function, just my 2c.

    the worst, if it won’t happen, can you just make the current friends plugin support subdirectories? I do not know if it will cost much time, but I really wanna realese my site with both avatar and friends plugins, please help, thanks!

    just wanna you know that I’ve made up my mind to move my site to Media Temple and run there in subdomain mode, so that the subdirectories support issue is not a problem for me anymore, if I was the only person who ask you make avatar plugin support subdirectories, you may slow down or cancel this task :slight_smile:

    italways – I discovered I had an actual friend’s plugoin bundled with soem other plugins and not really publicised. It’s here:

    The orange link is a tarball nota zip, and I don’t know if it works on subdir installs, but it’s got a whole pile of stuff, including a *proper* friend’s list, that you might find usefull. (private notes, global background and css editor, privacy options, admin bar)

    Anyone else interested in a social network package like this, you’ll enjoy it. The regulars also might wanna have a look.
