What do WPMU DEV use for subscription payments?

0

Whatever it is, I and probably the entire community would love to have it! Is it a plugin or do you use third party software.

Subscriptions that automate themselves i.e. granting and revoking access on their own is the only thing I am missing from my network.

I’m just dying for a decent subscription plugin. I would even pay for it. I just need one that effectively looks after itself whilst I concentrate on site content.

Any help would be so very much appreciated WPMU Dev! Share your wisdom.

Oh yeah I’m on a single install of WP with BP.

Thanks

It’s coming soon as part of our new ‘membership’ plugin.

In terms of the basics though, we’re using the PayPal Pro API…. this (and other gateways, hopefully) will be integrated.

It’ll work with standard wordpress, wpmu and buddypress.

No ETA though I’m afraid (we don’t provide them as we want to make sure we get you the best possible poduct, without constraints of time, and also as ETAs in dev work almost always disappoint!)

But I can tell you that we’re working hard on it now.

James, this plugin will revolutionise my site! I can sit and wait no problem in order to ensure we get it right.

Will the plugin enable you to make forums available only to paying customers etc, making premium content locked off to non paying members?

No rough idea on ETA? e.g. the next 3 months? Before/ after summer?

    Thanks so much!

You’ll be able to restrict the ability to login and view specified content to paying members only.

I’m afraid we don’t provide ETAs. All we can say at the moment is that the plugin is in active development and will be available as soon as it’s completed

    Thanks,

This sounds like a dream come true!

I would like my members to be able to browse certain pages of my site but not be able to access groups or forums without paying for a subscription.

You guys would be my saviours if you get this out over the next few weeks!

Thanks so much for your help and I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

    Hey James,

Just wanted to check on the progress of your subscription widget.

I basically want my site open to the public in it’s entirety but I want to deny access to the groups and forums in BP unless the member has paid a subscription.

Will the subscription plugin in development allow me to do this?

My site launches in 6 weeks so I need a solution by then.

    Cheers again,

I think it’s safe to say that we’ll meet your 6 weeks deadline though!

So excited! I’ve got a couple projects that this could totally add new value to! Hoping to see some stellar work here. Thanks for the Ning importer as well! I’ve already picked up a new client that I can use this for! Sweet!

Hadn’t seen memberwing before. Seems like it offers lot’s of different things which is nice but I’m after a simple solution for memberships.

Can’t wait to find out more about the subscription plugin from you guys and as you said Barry if it looks great too then that’s a great bonus!

Oh one thing i wanted to ask.

When a member sets up a recurring payment with paypal through your plugin, you receive an email from Paypal to notify you of this subscription.

Do you also get notification and automatic revoked priveliges when they cancel that payment as when i have ran recurring payments in the past I NEVEr received emails to let me know of cancellations.

Is that something you guys at WPMU DEV get when one of your members cancels? Would be so much easier to manage if it was all automated.

    Cheers

Barry that is music to my ears!

On my old site (not a BP or WP) site I had to manually check for cancellations and it was one MASSIVE pain in the backside!

If this plugin can effectively look after itself, which is what i gather from your posts it will do, I will be the happiest blogger alive!

I expect better, because of the integration.

Given the in-house familiarity with the nuances of WPMU giving our guys a running start over the competition, who may be familiar with their own product, and the historical WP, but not with the new WP 3.0, we will have a smoother product.

Features can be added. Clunkiness is hard to get rid of and creates bad buzz.
