Supporter after Paypal, now what?

Hi,

Thanks for the very nice plugin. I installed it, did the sandbox, went live and just became my own first supporter! PayPal confirmed the payment, now what?

I just want to make sure I didn’t miss a feature or plugin or two. I still have to manually upgrade each blog to supporter, right? And, if it is a monthly supporter, PayPal automatically charges them (if that option was selected) and I need to re-upgrade them manually every month?

Also, I’ve been reading the posts. Did anyone figure a way for a noobie to get a list of supporters on a page, or show which blogs are supporters in the "blogs" admin?

Anything else I should be doing?

Appreciate it.

    Hiya,

PayPal sends a notification to your site and the supporter privileges are automatically added to the correct blog

    See above.

We haven’t added a list of supporters int he backend yet but you can use the included widget to display supporters on your main blog.

    Thanks,

Everything seems to work but this part. Paypal took the money from one account and put it in the other (live). I’m still waiting for the blog to show that it is a supporter. Under the Supporter tab it’s still asking for payment. Plugins tab is not visible.

    Thanks.

Setting that to "http://domain.com" would actually result in nothing but problems. You actually don’t have to configure that setting at all. If you look at the source of the PayPal buttons you’ll see that the PayPal notification url is sent with each payment post to the PayPal system.

Unless something isn’t installed correctly the problem is most likely just the PayPal system being a bit backed up. Hundreds of sites use the Supporter plugin so I’m sure the plugin works ok

    Thanks,

Here’s what paypal is telling me:

Edit Instant Payment Notification (IPN) settings

You must enter a properly formatted URL into the Notification URL field in order to activate Instant Payment Notification.

PayPal sends IPN messages to the URL that you specify below.

To start receiving IPN messages, enter the notification URL and select Receive IPN messages below. To temporarily stop receiving IPN messages, select Do not receive IPN messages below. PayPal continues to generate and store IPN messages until you select Receive IPN messages again (or turn off IPN).

    Notification URL

    IPN messages

    Receive IPN messages (Enabled)

Do not receive IPN messages (Disabled)

    Hiya,

Again, even though it says you have to enter an url into that field you don’t actually have to. Entering an url into that field can actually cause huge problems if you run multiple services through a single PayPal account. I’m by no means a PayPal expert but we work with the PayPal system nearly every day.

If you go to the IPN History page and click on a notification you should see that the notification url is already configured.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

I can see how thorough the plugin is. which is great. I see through the PayPal History page where the plugin has sent the IPN automatically. But in order to see the page, I must activate IPN. To activate IPN PayPal requires that the Notification URL be filled in. If I try and leave it blank, it won’t let me leave the page.

If I turn off IPN through the PayPal admin, then I can’t see the history. (Auuggh!)
