Personalization: User-specified favorite posts/pages

0

Suggestion: For content-heavy sites (in our case, lots of educational "how-to" type articles), a plugin allowing users to personalize some navigation by selecting particular articles/pages as "favorites" and have that list available in an area on the home page (once logged in) or in a sidebar would be a great way for individual members/users to get to favorite content faster – without having to drill through what could be many navigation layers. Sort of a "playlist" for posts…

    Thanks Andrew.

From my perspective, this would make the user favorites a key "feature" of a site – the personalization of the web site interface becomes a value-added part of the overall defined user-experience.

My Yahoo!, MSN, iGoogle and other such sites allow users to essentially tailor page content/navigation based on their own preferences – rather than simply telling the user to use browser bookmarks to get to those things.

Essentially what I’m looking for is a sort of portal "lite" feature that allows my users to aggregate content from my site into their own area on a page or in a sidebar. Pages and posts could have an "Add to favorites" icon that would allow authenticated users to mark the content.

Because the feature is controlled via the web application, I as a site owner could include additional information to the "list" or add functionality that would not be possible via a browser bookmark.
