BP Scholar no Members/Groups/Forum pages

Hi all —

Thank you for this terrific theme! I’m running it on WordPress MU 2.9.1.1 w/BuddyPress 1.2. I can’t get the Members/Groups or Forum pages to show up. They show up in the Magazine theme so it’s not my install (I don’t think). I checked and the index pages are in their proper places (i.e., groups/index.php etc.) so I’m not sure what’s up.

You can see here: http://www.supportforspecialneeds.com

Thanks in advance!

Finding some more issues. If I click on a member, I can't get to their profile (it goes to the front page) and the group admin page is totally without css.

@Dawn: I’m scratching my head a little here as it calls exactly the same as Magazine. Have you tested Magazine using all the plugins and additional things like the bottom bar – as my thought is could those be impacting currently. If you could just switch to default or Magazine using exactly the set up you have and see if you get the same issue or not please.

Ok deleted all my plugins. Reinstalled BP-compatible and BP and still nothing. Still works in magazine. Still does NOT work in Scholar. I’m stymied (and half-crazed with frustration — argh). I’m going to try to the theme compatibility plugin and see if I can comb through the dang thing but I’d welcome anyone else’s eyes. I like the Magazine theme, too, but the Scholar theme has all of those nifty widget spaces that I really want to use!

(Any idea why it works with one and not the other? Is Scholar somehow different? I wondered if it was styled for 1.2 and the others weren’t yet or something?)

    Thanks!

@Dawn: I am sorry for not responding earlier. I am going to investigate this more tomorrow. I did plan on updating the Scholar theme with a new version and some changes tomorrow anyway so hopefully I can catch anything that could be causing this. Currently I have no direct solution but I hope it comes up during testing the new version or at least is solved in the new version for you. If however, the problem persists with the new version I will probably take you up on your offer of logging in to see your admin panel. I will get to the bottom of it if you can just bare with me please. The only problem is if you are using the compatible plugin that would cause issues. Why are you using that plugin as in is there any way you could not?

I’m deleting all the plugins and reinstalling stuff so I’ll let it lie for tonight and will try with the new version tomorrow. Also uninstalled all templates. I like digging around wordpress (I’m not techie at all but I’m not afraid of breaking my site — especially when it’s brand new) so I look forward to doing whatever I can to help you figure it out tomorrow (unless the new version fixes it and then I’ll just be happy)!

Thanks for the great service here, BTW. I’ve told my boss that so far this is totally worth her investment!!!!!

@Dawn: I’m cautious that I will find one or a way around the compatible plugin which is a worry if there is any reason you have to use it. Is there a reason you are using this such as a plugin or something else on your site that requires it.

No problem at all, hopefully we will come up with a solution. Good to not be afraid of breaking your site particularly with child and parent themes that is what themes are about – easy to keep a clean copy and just put that back on of the files with themes.

I’m using the plugin ‘cuz this is an older BuddyPress install (not that old, the latest before this last update) and the instructions on the BuddyPress site said to do it. I’m obedient when it comes to instructions so I went ahead and installed it first. I’ve since uninstalled it (since reading this thread) just to see if that helped.

Not sure which Magazine version but I downloaded it early last week. I’ve since cleared everything out but the default theme and the latest BuddyPress. That’s it for themes and plugins.

@Dawn: Unless it’s a buddypress 1.2 install you can’t use Scholar I am afraid. That will only ever work on 1.2 and upwards once they come out. It’s fairly easy to update your BuddyPress install is that an option as there are a ton of good features in BuddyPress 1.2. Also that compatible is for from 1.2 down not to make 1.2 and above work on lower versions if that is my correct understanding that is what you are trying to do here.

I did upgrade and I removed the plugin although the instructions said to leave it if you’re upgrading (I think either I’m confused or they are).

I’m going to go reinstall Scholar and see if 1.0.5 is working for me.
