Added functionality to BP Group Calendar widget

Hi guys,

Absolutely love the BP Group Calendar Widget. It will solve a big hassel by allowing users to create events that are displayed on the homepage.

But in playing around, I found three improvements would greatly enhance the useability.

First, can you create a new “More info” field (below the text field) that would allow users to insert a URL, phone number or email? Most events have some sort of organizers or sign up and this would make it tremendously easy to find that.

Second, many events span more than one day. Is it possible to allow users to select more than one day for the event date?

Third, many events repeat. On my site it might be a weekly meeting, or by-monthly party. Giving folks the ability to create one entry that will appear regularly would be terrific.

    Secondly, thanks for the feedback. It’s so valuable to the devs as they look at implementing new features. I agree with your points about extending the functionality of the calendar. Especially the “More Info” makes a lot of since. Good call!

    We run a popular and growing boating website for the Pacifict Northwest (threesheetsnw.com). Readers really wanted a good event calendar, but actually managing one is nearly a full time job. This plug in rocks because organizations wanting to promote an event can just log on and add it themselves.

    And so far, it is working. Up only a few days and we already have folks adding their events, which the widget is highlighting on the homepage. And one of those users asked if we could include functionality for recurring events (like a class that takes place every other tuesday).

    I’ll stay tuned for the updates.
