Event Formatting all over the shop

Can someone look at this event text layout please?

https://www.publicaffairsjobs.com.au/learning-centre/events/2014/03/employee-engagement-practical-tools-for-tough-times-breakfast/

I have tried to use heading (H2) and the text is all over the place – this is pretty simple stuff…why isn’t it working.

140211 Issues with Event Text

Please feel free to go in and check at ANY TIME.

I don’t need to wait another day to get an answer as I REALLY need to get my site up. I am losing business opportunities by the hour now.

FYI I copied the text from an email.

Given the plug-in formats the text why would it create this havoc.

The text should NOT be BESIDE the H2 heading. They should be under like every other time I put a heading and text in.

I am really feeling DEFEATED by this software. I find it IMPOSSIBLE to move forward quickly. I thought all was sorted yesterday with events (apart from the bullet point issue and I could just race ahead and add the content to events…this was SO disappointing to find more issues.

By the way – talking about bullet points – has that issue been sorted? I can’t release the site with text looking so awful like that. I am going thru the emails to check if it has been sorted but as ALL my courses use the format of paragraph followed by 5 bullet points this is a BIG issue for me

    Surely it is basic formatting/programming???

Jack I just updated another event and got scrambled eggs text AGAIN.

    WHAT is going on????????????????????????

Is it the use of headings? (see below – YES!)

I can’t BELIEVE the number of things that go WRONG with something that should be CHILD”s PLAY and work FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    More info:

    1. It appears to have to do with the use of H2 headings (it may be the other headings as well but that is the only one I used.

If I remove the H2 and just use paragraph and bold it – the text DOES NOT end up BESIDE the heading. Why should that be???????????????

I want to use (a) H1/H2 etc headings -they are THERE for Pete’s sake – why are they CAUSING ISSUES???????

    2. SAME ISSUE WITH BULLET POINTS – They are there to use. Why won’t they just WORK!!!???

F&*** this is frustrating in the extreme.

    Thanks – appreciated.

    I’ll try it.

    ***

    Update: I just tried it.

It is OK if I use H2 as a heading. But if I use H3 the text is still to the right of the heading. It needs to apply to all the heading formats.

ALSO *** UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES OF USING THAT CODE***

It screws up the formatting of the list of documents on the WPMU Issues page I created (also in the pdf document listed below so you can see it)…SO I AM REMOVING THAT CODE.

    See https://www.publicaffairsjobs.com.au/wpmu-issues-page/

    140213 – H2 vs H3 Headings – after adding Jack’s code to Custom CSS

    *****

But truly – how come just selecting the H2/Hx etc is mucking it up???

Why would using the STANDARD options for TEXT (that are there presumably to be USED) cause so much grief???

That is what is doing my head in.

It is not like I am asking for anything other than WHAT IS THERE to actually WORK!

    Hi there Karen,

Hope you’re well today, I’ve been discussing this with my colleague and this isn’t anything your doing

Rather it’s some styling being applied by event+, add this css and that should resolve it.

    #wpmudevevents-wrapper h2 {float:none;}

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards

    Jack.

I didn’t think I was doing it – but nice to have it confirmed!

    Thanks.

Just tried the new code in Custom CSS file.

I was going to say that it doesn’t work as I tried H3 headings after adding it to Custom CSS and the text was still to the RIGHT of the HEADING…. but then I realised the code only had H2 in it….

So I copied the code and just changed the H2 to the other Headings.

That seems to work for all of them now.

…but shouldn’t this be built into the Events+ plug-ins software so it works for everyone? Just a thought.

    Thanks for responding so quickly.

On to the rest of the issues…

    Yippee – another thing fixed.

Thanks for listening and taking notice.

PS Out of curiosity – am I the only person out of 1000s who is finding basic things that the software needs to do/not do? I am puzzled that this hasn’t been identified and sorted long ago? Just a comment. (actually ‘Be” and me).

    Hi there Karen,

Hope you’re well today, your most welcome

    Glad that’s fixed

I don’t believe so, we have had a few different members point out various parts, which is part of the overall user interface and user experience like you and Be have mentioned.

I know sometimes it seems like we aren’t taking notice as we don’t push a release straight away, but we do indeed take notice, just the developers have multiple plugins each and are always working on new ideas, so then of course we have to put things in priority, so a bug would get fixed a lot quicker than a additional feature would get added for example.

We are looking into overhauling the User interface and user experience of the plugins currently.

Hope that provides some insight to how it all works

    Thanks!

    Kind Regards

    Jack.

    Thanks.

I just did a rant on some other response to Vlad regarding events and the process for input.

We appreciate the efforts -truly – it is just frustrating to run up against the issues all the time.

It feels like running full tilt into a brick wall. I appreciate you have frustrations with users not understanding your side of the equation too.

Happy to look at suggestions if you need us to.

    Hi there Karen,

    Hope you’re well today,

No problem, I completely understand how it can feel to have the same issues over and over with, I was also a member at one point before I became staff

We do take notice of everything and it does/should all get done, though of course due to the various feature requests etc we have to put that into some form of priority

We’re always here to help

    Thanks!

    Kind Regards

    Jack.
