Do I use widgets to place a shortcode in an Upfront site? If so, how?

I want to place a shortcode on a page, but am not sure how to do that. I thought I could use a widget, however I’m not able to do more than just a few different options (pages, calendar, meta, and archives). I haven’t been able to add more widget options, even though I used the Jetpack plugin to add some options to the site. Thoughts?
