Click and Draggable Site Sorting/Management UX Mechanism

0

Feature Request: It’d be great if sites in both the ‘Sites’ and ‘Hosting’ views on the Hub 2.0 were clickable and draggable so that as an administrator I’m able to sort, group and organize site order arrangement in a more meaningful way to me; similar to the way sorting and organizing one’s que via Netflix used to work. An additional “stretch-innovation” request would be able to “bundle” sites into meaningful collections that I can name and manually manage so that I have a better and more-organized manner of maintaining my sites and projects. This would be a great improvement from the default behavior which appears to be chronological.

    Hi Robert

I hope you are doing good today.

This does sound like a good feature but we need to take into account that there is already a “Star” feature that allows moving sites on top of the main list and also a “Filters & Labels” solution.
I guess we could have members who will say yes and no for that. From my point of view, please don’t get me wrong I think this will be a triumph of form over content and it could confuse some members. Whan I mean here is that instead of focusing on tasks they will have too many items to control things. Currently, a row of the site opens this site panel. Implementing drag & drop will need an additional column for all sites. There is a place for that, but my main point is still the same: too many items in 1 row for 1 site.

Of course, if some members have many sites this could speed up some sorting workflow. Could it? Possibly yes, as the current workflow is a double click to mark some site and attach to correct label. With drag & drop, this could speed up this. I guess I just convinced myself, that this could be a great feature

Let’s see what other members think about this as I cannot speak for them. I also passed your query to our HUB Team

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Kris,

Thank you for engaging me on this as well as for your additional thoughts and input. With this proposed feature I believe that it will help speed up workflow and manageability. By having a high-level affordance for organizing and sorting several web-based projects as Hub admins (us) we’ll have greater control over our environments and thus give ourselves the ability to flow through projects with greater ease. The star feature, that you mention, is a good start and is what partially inspired this suggestion but I feel that it is rather limiting. Meaningful and sortable bundles/stacks/collections would really help take a load off ye olde brain when scanning through multiple projects and so I surely hope that the HUB Team warms up to the idea as you have. I greatly appreciate you passing it along as well as your vote of confidence.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Robert
