[Smush Pro] Multiple images smushing in bulk smush page.

0

Multiple images smushing in bulk smush page, currently the smashing process is a bit slow because it’s doing it one-by-one smush… it defeats the purpose of bulk smush.

Compare to manually clicking smush in the media library it’s more productive and faster than the bulk smush itself.

I have tested it and time it:
1 image finish in bulk smush == 5 images manual smush in media library.

    Hi Jim Radford ,

I would like to update you that this has already been improved with the latest update of Smush, which was released yesterday.

Could we know whether you tested with the latest version of Smush, i.e. v 3.11? Images are now smushed in parallel instead of one at a time, significantly improving the smush time.

Please check and let us know how it behaves with the last release. Looking forward to your response.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

We have tested v3.11.1 and still the same scenario and issue, Bulk smush is still slower than media library :(.

Also, it is still doing 1-by-1 smush in bulk smush slow, I would suggest having a button to force parallel smush in bulk smush and set a number of images to be processed. This way customer/admin have a choice to prioritise the smushing tasks instead of website availability.

I have run it early this morning to smush 4790 images which are 11GB of files in our server. Until now I still need to process 4000 which is a bit slow, this is including me doing manually click of smush at the backend media library.

Its almost 5:30PM here and still have 3748 images to process for smush in bulk smashing. If I have started doing it manually at media library I would assuming I would be able to finish half of the 4790 images.

    Hi Jim Radford ,

I would suggest having a button to force parallel smush in bulk smush and set a number of images to be processed. This way customer/admin have a choice to prioritise the smushing tasks instead of website availability.

At the moment, there aren’t such plans to set numbers. But I do understand you, however, the latest version should have improved optimization time compared to the previous version of Smush out of the box by optimizing mulitple images at once.

If I’m not wrong, you aren’t noticing much difference in processing time compared to the latest version? Or do you mean it did improve, but the latest version is still slow?

The feature request in this ticket is tied to the existing Parallel processing feature, so it would give us a better idea if we could investigate the current issues you are facing on your website. I would like to see if there are any further improvements that could be looked at in terms of improving the existing feature of parallel processing.

Since its features and feedback ticket, could you please create a support ticket or a chat with us regarding this so that we could check, especially on the mentioned website and analyze how the latest version of Smush works on your website and check if there is further improvements that could be looked regarding this or not?

Or I can move this ticket to the support forum if needed. Please do let us know how you want to move ahead.
