Up until recently, I had only been using Forminator for basic contact forms so building out through the GUI was not much of an issue. However, lately I have been using it to create extensive questionnaires for potential clients. Some that include over 100 fields and have encountered many issues which I’d like to point out.
Sometimes while building a form, I will add many elements – go to Save and I get some “You cant do that” (I can’t remember the exact words) error. It doesn’t say why but it always requires reloading the page and doing everything over. It would be nice if there was an auto-save option and also the ability to see the form JSON as I build so in case anything goes wrong I can copy it and not lose my progress.
Speaking of saving JSON – I know you can import an entire form but it would be nice to be able to add a single field using JSON when you hit insert.
Another thing somewhat related is that with these questionnaires I have been building, I sometimes need to re-use form elements on multiple forms – including whether it’s required and the message displayed, the layout format, additional classes, etc. Right now I need to manually rebuild each one. It would be a no-brainer to make forminator use Gutenberg or a similar approach so I can copy/paste “blocks” of elements and all of their info along with it since it’s just JSON. Being able to multi-select and copy/paste a block of form fields into a new form would save a ton of time.
On the topic of multi-select… when I go to add multiple elements at once, if I need them at the top of my form, I need to drag them one at a time. There is no multi-select ability which makes form building a very slow and tedious process. In fact, there’s no bulk actions at all so if I need to delete elements – I have to do that one at a time as well.
I would love some sort of forminator intellisense JSON builder for VScode. Something where I could build the whole form outside of WP, get typing hints on the fields so I can build within my editor while saving my changes along the way, and then import it to Forminator once it’s complete would be amazing.
It would also be nice if we could put forms into “groups” or “folders” so to speak so I can keep track of forms for campaigns, promos, support, etc. all separately. I only have 19 forms now and it’s already a pain to scroll through.
Lastly, I don’t understand why I can’t sort the list of forms, polls, etc. You have it hard coded at the most recently created at the top which I don’t understand. I’d like to be able to sort A-Z, by # of submissions, by date created, date of last submission, etc.
Hopefully some of these can be taken into consideration.
Thank you very much!
