[The Hub] Global Plugin Update Management

0

Hi – I’m requesting that you expand the global plugin/theme update panel of the hub to include Updates.

A very real scenario: A plugin is found to be vulnerable, and the developer releases a quick patch. We should be able to one-click install this update for every site that plugin is used on ManageWP has this feature. Currently, I would need to wait for automate to run, or manually update every site, which is not feasible for managing 100+ sites.

Also, sometimes conflicts occur on new plugin updates – in this case, it would be helpful to even have the ability to rollback a plugin update globally accross all sites if an issue is found.

    Hi John

I hope you are doing well.

You can have the update for specific plugins on HUB > Update > Plugins side:

[attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

We split the plugin & updates into two different pages, however, if you are uploading the file using ZIP the /plugins/add/zip is going to replace the plugin for selected sites, In case you don’t have the license but have the ZIP file for example.

    About the:

WordPress has a native option for it now https://make.wordpress.org/core/2023/07/11/new-in-6-3-rollback-for-failed-manual-plugin-and-theme-updates/ however it works for manual updates so far, the 6.4 should be including the automatic updates as well.

On the HUB side, we can rollback uploading the ZIP file using the HUB > Plugins > Add > ZIP but it really depends on the conflict, HUB depends on site connection and if the API returns a fatal error due to conflict we wouldn’t be able to take automated actions.

    Best Regards
