[All pro plugins] License support for local and staging (dev) sites

1

I think new wpmudev customers would appreciate being able to use their purchased plugins on staging or local dev sites without having to disconnect their live site. While this can be avoided by upgrading to a higher plan, I personally think it would be nicer for customers if they didn’t have to do all of that. It’s a small gesture that would hopefully make the decision to upgrade in the future much easier. Restricting this ability to customers using your hosting seems a little silly, but I understand that the requirements to pull this off will take up a good chunk of your already-busy schedule and roadmap. Just my two cents…

    Hi Evan @ Smashstar Media

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for the feedback and I understand your point, however, the current system is designed to count the sites connected to HUB, to modify this we need to make deeper changes in how it is structured and unfortunately it isn’t that easy.

We do have internal discussions on improving some aspects but we don’t have any ETA or final decision to modify it, but we still listening to members and collecting votes for possible feature requests.

    Best Regards

    Hi. Any update on this?

We just bought the plugin for our own website and realized this too. We’re unable to test the premium features of the plugin now on our staging/dev site. Maybe its possible to work with a REGEX for the license check where it looks if domain contains staging., dev., development., tst.,..

I know ACF also works in this way. It would be really usefull, since it wouldn’t force people to upgrade to a license they don’t actually need.

    Thanks.
