[The Hub] Client reporting agnostic of plugins used

0

HI – I’m requesting that the client reporting be agnostic of whether or not the WPMU Dev plugins are used.

Currently, we have to have all of the plugins installed in order to get their data on the reports, which is understandable.

However, this breaks down for sites where we cannot use some of the plugins. For instance, WP rocket performs better than hummingbird on some sites, and has more complex optimization features, so in those cases we need to remove Hummingbird, which then removes the ability for us to report on site optimization and performance. Many other tools such as ManageWP and WP umbrella use reporting measures that measure the data not-specific to a plugin, so it doesn’t matter which plugins are used for optimization, performance, security etc.

Also, some sites I have hosted on other providers such as Cloudways, and many times the backups do not work as well, which lead to errors show on the client backup reports, which this was an issue on the WPMU Dev end with the backup plugin, rather than the actual backups which were separately completed already on the server level.

Can you advise on a solution to this?

Thanks

I feel your pain. What I do is let customers know that the reports, as well as some HUB features, are dependent upon these plugins and if they can’t/won’t use these plugins then the related function will not be available in the HUB and will not be included in their reports. Most customers are understanding of this and chose to either find alternatives to those feature/report sections, go without them, or use our plugins.

    Hi John ,

Sorry to know that Hummingbird is not working as expected on some of your websites.

Can you please open a separate support ticket for this issue so that we can check this and take a closer look at whether Hummingbird could be further improved to address this issue?

Regarding the backup issue, it looks like you already have a ticket opened, Can you please follow up on the last request so that we can debug the issue and help you resolve the issue?

I am afraid, the Hub Reports are mainly structured to incorporate data from our plugins and services. Integrating data from other plugins would require a robust API, which is not available in most of the cases. Additionally, reliably importing this data into our white-label report facility would depend on various factors, including hosting infrastructure and potential code modifications by the respective plugin developers.

I hope more members will share their feedback and suggestions that could be helpful.

    Kind Regards,
    Nebu John
