[The Hub] Block webiste from reconnecting to the hub

0

In quite a few cases, old websites that are no longer publicly accessible automatically re-register with the hub. This happens when websites are migrated from WP to Wix or similar, for example, or when the website is migrated to a new server without deleting the instance on the old server.

    Hello @pt24,

I hope things are going well for you.

We completely empathize with your situation and feature request. Our Support team is here 24/7 through Livechat and forum support. If you encounter any issues, please let us know so we can internally block those sites and prevent them from connecting to the HUB again.

At the moment, we don’t have a feature that lets members add a site to the block list to prevent direct connection to the HUB. This task is more complex due to various technical aspects, such as the limitation being set to the entire WPMUDEV HUB level.

My suggestion would be when you try to migrate or create the site clone or the site you’re not going to manage. Please ensure you have the log-out from the WPMUDEV Dashboard, which automatically prevents the duplicate/old site from reconnecting to the HUB.

I hope all this information will be helpful to you.

    Thanks & Kind Regards,
    Imran Khan

We have no problems when we migrate websites, only problems when the customer does it themselves. If the customer decides to use a different platform, such as Wix, the obsolete WordPress website is often left standing. The problem is when there is no more access to the website and the client does not respond.

I understand that it may not be easy to realize this. I thought it is possible to make non-trivial requests. I was not aware that only simple feature requests are allowed to be submitted.

    Hello pr24 ,

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for the update.

You can connect sites with WPMU DEV Hub in two ways. You can connect the sites from the Hub or install the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin on the site and log on to the plugin using the WPMU DEV Account. Once logged in on the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin, the site will be connected to the Hub.

When you migrate a site, the old site is still running and the old site still has the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin logged in. As a result, that old site automatically gets connected with the Hub.
To prevent this you can log out from the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin on the old site before migration. Or, after the migration, you can delete the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin from the old site using a file manager of FTP connection.
There are no other alternative methods for you to apply. I am sorry about that.

Sometimes you can find a situation where you didn’t do the above procedure and no longer have file manager or FTP access to the old site. In that case, you can reach out to us and we will block the old site from re-connecting with the Hub.

    Kind Regards,
    Fida Al Hasan
