$0 Option for Payments

0

Hello.

Till date, I have experienced discomfort with many plug-ins concerning payments, like Supporter, MU-Affiliate, Upgrades, etc.

All of these plug-ins doesn’t have 0 in one of the values. With all of the plug-ins value starting from 1, it doesn’t allow me to charge/pay in cents, instead of dollars.

Suppose I wanted to charge $0.80 in Upgrades plug-in and since there was no 0 as value, I had no option but to increase the price to $1.

I wonder why all the coders made the minimum value to 1. Why not 0?

Thanks for reading my suggestion.

I think it is generally because using something like PayPal for values under $1 means you get very little after they have taken their transaction fee, so it has never occured to us that people would implement a payment option to make no money

No, that’s per transaction – so everytime someone gives you money you only get the remainder.

So for your 80cents you’ll (maybe) make 40cents if you’re lucky (the fee can also depend on how the payer pays – so the transaction amount can increase if they use a credit/debit card rather than a paypal balance, and is also more for some countries of origin. So you might end up with 1 or 2 cents for some transactions, depending on circumstances.

You then have to keep all your 40cents before you can withdraw them (when you reach the minimum amount, otherwise you get charged another fee).

Stay above a dollar and a bit to make it worthwhile.
