Access denied to default WP dashboard

Hi there,

since I installed the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin, I’ve been denied access to the standard WP dashboard, so I’m no longer allowed to see the page with updates to my WP installation (I can’t upgrade to WP 3.4.2).

What can I do?

Best regards

Jesper

    Greetings Jesper,

Thank you for bringing this significant issue to our attention, it is greatly appreciated.

It is good that you have not been able to upgrade to WordPress 3.4.2, it currently has some serious issues as disclosed in the WordPress forums.

The main issue at hand seems like a memory issue – meaning not enough memory in your WordPress installation to run it and your other plugins.

Lets see if that is indeed the case by first downloading and extracting the below attached file. Then FTP the file to your the root of your domain and access the file by going something like http://yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php

The line we are specifically interested in is memory_limit

    Please advise.

    Cheers, Joe

    Hi Joe,

sorry about the delay… and thanks for your efforts.

See the first attached screendump: I can't see anything about a memory limit (I uploaded your file first).

Anyway, I'll wait and see about WP 3.4.2, but the problem remains (see the second attachment): I don't have sufficient permissions to access http://www.health-fitness-news.com/wp-admin/, http://www.health-fitness-news.com/wp-admin/update-core.php and a number of other pages.

It can't be right that I don't have access to those pages (as I AM admin). Do you know how I can change my admin-rights back to default? (The problem occurred after I installed the plugin "WPMU Dev Dashboard".

    Best regards

    Jesper

    Greetings Jesper,

Thank you for the additional input and screen shots, they are certainly appreciated.

That screen dump is nothing I have ever seen before. Where did it come from?

What happens when you pull up the file http://www.health-fitness-news.com/phpinfo.php as requested?

I tried to check it and it does not exist in the root of the site.

For now to get control of your dashboard you can always FTP in and delete the WPMU Dev Dashboard plugin.

    Please advise.

    Cheers, Joe

    Hi Joe,

I’m about to give up on WP. Nothing works as it should (it’s what I’m thinking now). The screen appears eg. after I attempt to log in to the WP-dashboard, or when I try to delete the cache and in many, many other cases.

Q: How can I restore my default admin-rights to http://www.prosportsmate.com/wp-admin? (+ other sites). That must be possible – I mean, those rights can’t just be changed without my knowing so, and in any case, it should be possible to change the settings back.

Yes, I did upload the phpinfo.php file, as requested. If you click the link, you inserted – that’s what I see.

    Best regards

    Greetings Jesper,

Thank you for your additional feedback, it is certainly appreciated.

It is not WordPress I can assure you. Something else is going on there.

I do not know what it is yet but something is definitely wrong with that hosting account.

Here is the screen you should have seen with that file I sent you:

    http://wpmu-hosting.org/phpinfo.php

A quick way to find out what is going on is to ask your host why that file is not working as expected, similar to the one I have shown above.

    Please advise.

    Cheers, Joe
