Affiliate Plugin – still cant get it to work

Still trying to get this plugin to work.

I’ve tested clicks from various computers, cleared cache etc but not tracking any clicks yet.

I have been having some other issues with my site, but not sure if this is related.

Also using the multi-db plugin and might be missing tables?

If this is answered elsewhere apologies, I’ve searched a number of times.

Slowly learning about the db’s, so if its a table that I’m missing, which one should I be adding where?

Thanks,

George

Thanks Barry, I have it half working.

My referral id works, but as soon as I try to use another domain or direct link to username.url.com it doesn’t work.

Also, is there a way to send referrals to a different page, like a sales letter or something or do they HAVE to signup from that blog?

I’m using buddypress, so let’s say they click on /register, will that track the referral?

Also, let’s say they wander to the home page and click register, I assume that will still track it?

    Thanks,

    George

Sorry for what sound like simplistic questions.

My referral id works, but as soon as I try to use another domain or direct link to username.url.com it doesn’t work.

Have you set up the domain in the settings so that it recognises it as a referrer. Also, once you have an affiliate cookie on there it won’t count another click for 30 days unless the cookie is cleared – the first affiliate effectively owns the user for that period.

The click is registered on ANY page powered by WPMU, so you should be able to link directly to any page / post you want.

A way to test if a URL will track is to visit it with the referral querystring at the end of the URL (e.g. ?ref=blahblah-2323), IF the page is tracked by the affiliate plugin the ref querystring will be stripped off the end (you will be redirect to the same page without the ?ref ).

If the ref query string remains at the end of the URL, then the affiliate plugin isn’t active in that part of your site.

I usually keep the cookies list open on my browser, then I can see immediately when the cookie is first created. As soon as that affiliate_ or noaffiliate_ cookie is there in your browser then it should stop recording unique clicks.

If it isn’t then there may be something else at play here.
