All Bases Covered Backup Solution?

Hi All,

I’m totally new to hosting a site on my own server and was wondering if anyone out there would be willing to talk me through a fool proof way of backing up EVERYTHING on my site.

I need to back up all articles, groups forums, pictures etc so that if anything goes wrong I could be back up and running quickly.

The backup will be done daily.

I am running a single installation of WP with BP.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    One of the things we’ve suggested and done in the past is to put the mysql databases into their own hosting account. That way you can back up the databases separately. We’ve started also doing the blogs.dir directory as well into a third hosting account since setting that directory is now changeable. Makes backups easier as they’re a lot smaller.

    Not sure how that would apply with BP though.

    edit: Just to clarify, we’re actually putting the global databases into their own hosting account and the blog databases into yet another hosting account now on our installs that use the multidb script. All of them do except for one. (They’re a closed 12 blog install.)
