[Automate] Automatic Updates once a month

Hi,

i really like the automatic updates but, I think, that every week is too often for certain sites. It would be great if we could get to option to automate it once a month.

Do you think that’s possible?

    Currently it’s not possible to set monthly schedule for Automate, I’m afraid.

    Taking into account how often updates for plugins and themes are released, a week seems to be reasonable timeframe and stalling updates for longer than this could potentially leave the site vulnerable (e.g. because updates very often contain security patches) in many cases.

    However, I understand that there are cases where this wouldn’t be as critical – e.g. on simple sites with just a few very basic plugins.

    That being said, you’ve posted this as a support ticket so I’d like to convert it to the feature requests if you don’t mind.

    This way other Member could share their feedback and support for this idea and if it gains more traction, our Hub Team would surely consider adding other schedules (e.g. monthly) in future.

    Is that fine for your?

    The problem is, that I can’t rely 100% on automation for a WooCommerce store. I need to check, at least, if the store functionality like checkout etc. is still working.

    Also, when updating everything once a week, you can’t be sure that themes, plugins, and WordPress have no compatibility issues. Sometimes a developer needs a bit more time to release a compatibility update.

    For a normal site, that’s not a big issue. For a shop, I still need to update it manually.

    Or do you got a solution for this? I hope you get what I mean.

    Surely I can understand it! But if it comes to Automate, I’m afraid I don’t have solution.

    As there is no such option available and since it’s a “service” (and not a plugin) we have no option to individually change settings for selected Members/sites. Furthermore, adding another schedule option to choices “globally” is also not as simple as it may seem because while Automate interface may look very simple and basic, there’s a lot of things going in back-end that would also need to be adjusted.

    So for now I’m afraid it’s a “no” but I converted this thread to a Feature Request. I’ve also suggested adding monthly schedule directly to the Hub Team.

    Our project managers are watching Feature Requests closely and if there’ll be more demand for it it would surely speed up decision and implementation.
