Automate, CSS last after update

After Automate update, no CSS files are loading on the site, to fix this issue site’s cache needs to be purged. The Automate screenshot within an email shows that CSS are loading.

So we’re hearing often from the client first instead of spotting an issue by ourselves via email.

    Hi CWN Design,

Automate check goes around the caching and checks the non-cached version of the site, because in most cases cached version will keep showing as before while uncached one will show if there are any errors.

I have passed this over to our devs to see what could be done in this case, perhaps adding an option to clear the cache once automate finishes.

In the meantime, can you tell us what are the files that are not loaded after the update, is it missing default theme/plugin CSS files or the Hummingbird optimized files are the ones that are not loading properly?

    Best regards,

    Predrag

Oh, one thing slipped my mind, we have added an option in HB to clear the cache when there are file changes, can you try going to Hummingbird > Caching > Settings and in there for “File Change Detection” select Automatic and see if that does the trick for you.

Let us know how it goes.

    Best regards,

The caching option of automatics is already in place and was at the time of the issue occurring.

Regarding the files, though I didn’t perform any testing at the time of fault due to the client being the one that reported it and expecting an immediate resolution. The solution was to clear the hummingbird cache which instantly rectified the issue so the fault I presume lies in the Hummingbird optimised files rather than the theme CSS.

Visually it was as if no CSS or theme related files were being loaded at all, and just the raw html code making it through to the page with zero formatting.

I think the suggestion of feature for an auto cache clear to automation / hummingbird would indeed eliminate this sort of issue.

    Hi CWN Design,

We were doing some tests on multiple installations and I’m afraid that we couldn’t replicate this on our installations.

I see that you have Snapshot installed on your site so I’m wondering if it’s ok I used that to create a backup of your themes, plugins and some of the settings so I could restore it to my test installation?

This should help us to have a setup similar to yours and hopefully replicate the issue so we can debug it further.

    Best regards,
