[Automate] Set automatic update in case of a critical vulnerability

0

Is it possible to set in the hub that if a plugin has a critical vulnerability, it will be updated outside the set schedule?

    Hi Dejw

    I hope you’re well today!

Currently it’s not possible to set such “out of schedule” updates. Automate is meant for regular, standard updates mostly and it only supports scheduled updates.

It may actually be a nice addition to its features to be able to enable such “emergency” updates but it would have to be implemented first.

Since you have already created this question as a feature request, let’s keep it open and see if other Members will also vote for it or share some feedback and if so – I’m sure our developers will take it into account for future.

    Best regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam/Dejw,
This is a great idea, but I think it might be difficult for WPMUDEV to implement it at short notice.

Perhaps in the interim, an easier solution would be a “critical vulnerability notification box” at the top of the site list.

I would think this would be much easier to implement and immediately notify us when we log into our WPMUDEV account to check which sites are running that software with the vulnerability, then update it manually across those sites.
    Regards,
    Andre

      Hi Andre van der Merwe

Actually, if you use Defender on site and have it set to run scheduled malware scans, you’ll already get basic insights into this right away in the Hub. First, you’ll see the “security” icon being red on the sites list and once you click on that icon, you’ll see more information about type of issues.

To see details you would need to go to the site from there, granted, but at least there is “some” notification already – so I’d say that’s a start. Maybe adding a more direct/clear notification could be a good idea, indeed, so let’s see what other Members will also say about it :)

      Best regards,
      Adam
