Buddy Press Social theme un-responsive to Cutomization.

I recently intalled buddy press and added the Bp social them but I fail at all attemps to customize the theme in the options panel. So far all I have control over is the numbr of Colums I am capable of displaying.

Any ideas… looking forward to some help

    Thanks for responding I am running BuddyPress Social 1.1.2 and WordPress MU 2.8.6. and yes I have taken all those steps, they are both activated in Admin themes and Appearance. The Issue is the customization, the color changes are not responding at all… but the columns and messages are….

    I had added buddymatic because It was bare until i could figure out how to have the Bp social colors corespond with HSK main news blog.

    the installation was not right:slight_smile:…you should upload bp-social and bp-social-child

    only to wp-content/themes

    and not bpsocial112 folder..

    refine the themes uploads and try the settings again ok

    you may need to reactivate the themes in admin and appearence again

    since there’s folder changed.

    Hi…

    I’m having similar problems with a few Social theme sites i’m working on…

    Richie, do you have any more advice if all the above points are covered (same versions / install type)?

    Are there any default server settings that may need to be adjusted?

    I’m having mixed luck… i created greengrassvc.com (instructions above worked for me). I created worldcuponline.org and it worked immediately

    Now I’m trying to get sypo.co.uk to work and I can’t customize anything… i’ve tried reinstalling templates but nothing…. very frustrating :slight_frown:

    Please help if you can (i can provide login details off this thread if it helps)

    one of the reason why customization did not work are the insallation path.

    make sure the path are correct like

    wp-content/themes/bp-social

    wp-content/themes/bp-social-child

    and not like

    wp-content/themes/foldername/bp-social

    wp-content/themes/foldername/bp-social-child

    theme option will not work in the similiar second path..

    thanks Richie, but on sypo.co.uk the folder path is:

    /public_html/wp-content/themes/bp-social-child

    /public_html/wp-content/themes/bp-social

    I’ve also tried reinstalling / reactivating… its weird this one, just does not want to work!

    any more ideas i can try ?

    just checked your site:slight_smile:

    in greengrassvc.com, the theme option sync ok with the site

    but in sypo.co.uk, there seem to be some kind of php restriction.

    try this 2 link

    this works ok

    http://greengrassvc.com/wp-content/themes/x-bp-social/theme-options.php

    this do not echo/sync the php

    http://sypo.co.uk/wp-content/themes/bp-social/theme-options.php

    so it must have something to do with server config that not allow php

    extensions etc.

    could you try using bp-social in sypo.co.uk and not bp-social-child, let’see

    if the child theme also causing this issue.

    I just tried social (not social child) same problem

    when you say:

    Can you elaborate a little? something i need to get my hosting company to fix?

    its either htaccess or php.ini edit needed..i’m not familiar with

    server config…if anyone have similiar problems and solution, feel

    free to chip in.

    ps

    since the theme work in the other site so maybe it had something

    to do with the buddypress installation too…can you try other theme that had theme option also in sypo.co.uk and see if it work.
