Can't migrate site from WPMUDEV to WPMUDEV

I have tried these plugins:

All-in-one Migration

Duplicator

Shipper

only Snapshot can make most close to success

But using Snapshot it threw 502 Bad Gateway error at the time of restore.

    Hi skylin

Sorry to hear that you are having this issue.

I checked the source and target site, and I can see some differences on the subsite list, the target has more subsites then source.

Before getting into it, you are trying to move the crypto++++.wpmudev.host as a new subsite of https://mark++++.wpmudev.host/ and keep all subsites on target site?

Let us know if this is the target of this migration and we can help you with this.

    Best Regards,

    Dear Patrick,

Many thanks for the prompt reply.

My target is to migrate from one subsite of a multisite to a subsite of another multisite.

    source: crypxxx.wpmudev.host

    destination: markxxx.wpmudev.host/xxx

    ===== information about what I tried =====

My original target is to migrate from a single site “A” to one subsite of multisite.

I tried “Shipper” several times in the beginning, but it failed without much information for reference.

So I to tried “Snapshot” instead cause I already successfully cloned 5 subsites of VPS multisite to subsites of WPMUDEV multisite.

    1. Testing “Snapshot” with “Single site to multisite”

    “A” to markxxx.wpmudev.host/xxx

    Result: Failure

It always stops at 9% with “ERROR 502 – BAD GATEWAY”.

    2. Testing “Snapshot” with “Single site to single site”

    “A” to crypxxx.wpmudev.host

    Result: Success

PS: crypxxx.wpmudev.host was a single site in that time frame

    3. Change crypxxx.wpmudev.host from “Single site” to “multisite”

    4. Testing “Snapshot” with “Multisite to multisite*”

    * from one subsite of a multisite to another subsite of another multisite.

    crypxxx.wpmudev.host to markxxx.wpmudev.host/xxx

    Result: Failure

Stop at 12% with “ERROR 502 – BAD GATEWAY”.

Reference: The following subsites are all using “Snapshot” to clone subsites of VPS multisites to subsites of WPMUDEV multisites.(one by one)

    markxxx.wpmudev.host/skyrxxx

    markxxx.wpmudev.host/blacxxx

    markxxx.wpmudev.host/cruirxxx

    markxxx.wpmudev.host/clinxxx

    markxxx.wpmudev.host/fancxxx

    Cheers,

    Sky

    Dear Patrick,

I did another testing this afternoon.

    1. Testing “Snapshot” with “Single site to multisite”

    “B” to crypxxx.wpmudev.host/xxx

    Result: Success

I guess the 502 error on markxxx.wpmudev.host might due to time out.

    Many thanks again.

    Cheers,

    Sky

    Hi skylin

    Sorry for the delay here.

Thank you for explaining the task, shipper won’t migrate a subsite to another WordPress installation at this moment, it would replace all target site with the source site.

I do like the Import/export option on WordPress instead of a plugin for a subsite to another multisite installation, it can take some time making small adjustments but can avoid some errors.

Install the theme/plugin from source to the target site, on the souce site, go to Subsite > Tools > Export

On Target site, create a new subsite then > Subsite > Tools > Import

After that, activate the plugins and theme.

However, I see the markxxx.wpmudev.host/ is really slow, I went to increase the PHP memory, but still, some slow loading, can you please, create a staging site for the markxxx.wpmudev.host and run a plugin conflict test?

On your Hosting portal, click on Staging > Crate New.

Disable all plugins and try to import the subsite inside the staging site, check if you are able, if so, enable the plugins one by one until the website start run slow again and check which plugin is causing such slow performance.

Let us know the result you get,

    Best Regards,

    Patrick Freitas
