Can't monitor uptime, but would like to very much for this site

After installing superpage.com, I wished to monitor uptime/downtime, but I got this dialog: "Your domain does not appear to be publicly accessible on the internet. We can only monitor the uptime of public sites." Correct me if I'm wrong: superpage.com is a static IP. Is this why?

    Hello Rod

    I hope you’re well today!

I can confirm what splaquet found. When I visited your site for the first time, it was loading quite slow for me. It was loading much faster later and Pingdom tools test actually gave quite nice “Load Time” result.

So, I’ve tested a curl request on the site (Uptime is making a cURL request for header) from outside and it also worked fine.

However, if for some reason server rejects our requests or responds to slow (I think over 20 or 30 seconds time), Uptime might assume that site is down. That would explain the message that you’re getting.

I think the course of action for now should be this:

    1. Make sure that on “Settings -> Reading” page in your site’s back-end you got “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” option disabled;

    2. Get in touch with your host and:

    – ask them if these IPs are allowed to make incoming requests (if they are not blocked in any way)

    34.196.51.17

    52.57.5.20

    – you may also make sure, just in case, about following ones

    66.135.60.59

    66.135.49.214

    66.135.60.64

    104.236.238.22

    104.236.50.140

    – ask them please if they can confirm that they already handled that DDoS thing as such attacks may indeed be a reason of Uptime false alarm (if server’s “clogged up” by DDoS it might not be able to respond on time even if the site itself finally loads fine).

Let’s see where it get’s us and then we’ll decide what to do next, if necessary.

    Best regards,

    Adam
