Can't update sites from the Hub

Anytime I try to update anything, plugins, themes, core from the Hub it fails and states that things are already up to date although they are not.

If I try to update directly from the sites, the dashboard it work fine.

    Hey Francine ,

    Hope you're well.

    Can you reset the API key for your account and re-login from your websites WPMUDEV Dashboard plugin? To do that you need to go to account page of this site and click the "Reset API Key" button like this;

After that please let me know, is updating from hub working or not?

    Cheers,

    Oguz

    Hi Oguzhan.

I’ve given this a try however I’m still getting the same issues as before.

I’m noticing a high level of CPU usage on the account, with regular Resources Exceeded Errors. I’m looking into this now and think it may be part of the problem as all the websites are hosted on the same server.

Is the updating process a heavy process on the server?

Not sure what else could be triggering such a high usage.

    Thanks.

    Hey Francine ,

    Hope you’re well.

Are you trying to update as a bulk update (update everything at once) or do you trying update one thing at a time? If all of your sites on one server and all of them have some kind of update, when you press bulk update it can be a heavy process for your server.

    Cheers,

    Oguz

    Hi Oguz.

It doesn’t matter which way I do it, whether it’s to update them individually or as a bulk, it simply fails every time.

I’ve also noticed that the site is no longer showing updates until I’ve logged into the website to double check.

    Thanks.

    Hello Francine,

hope you’re doing good today and don’t mind me chipping in!

This sounds to me more of a caching issue… is there any server-side caching mechanisms that this site is using? If so (you may have to contact hosting provider to double check that), could you please try to deactivate them all temporarily and check if Hub update are stating the ones found in wp-admin area?

In case you also use Cloudflare, you can use the integration that’s made in HummingBird’s Browser Caching module, so you can purge the Cloudflare cache directly from your wp-admin area.

Let us know, if that made any difference!

If not, then I’d rather advise to try to install a new testing site in this server (you can create a new subdomain installation) and only install WPMUDEV Dashboard, so we know that this isn’t some kind of conflict between plugins/themes.

You could then install a previous version of any little plugin from wp.org, like from this page here, and then check Hub for an update notification.

    Warm regards,

    Dimitris
