CNAME from Cloudflare

After creating a CNAME on Cloudflare to point to the host, the subdomain dev.mydomain.com is loading a Sign In page and ask for credentials. Please advise if the CNAME is created right on the Cloudflare and if there is any additional settings needs to be done

After setting the SSL to Full (Strict), I no longer get the signin screen, instead I get the 526 Error (Invalid SSL certificate) from Cloudflare. The domain is still showing that it is still showing not valid or not detecting DNS.

    Hello Kenn,

Strict can’t be used before SSL on WPMU DEV Hosting is generated for the domain. But it can’t be generated until the DNS Status is not resolved.

Status is still red for this domain also here https://www.whatsmydns.net/#CNAME/ it shows that CNAME is not resolved.

Can you double check that CNAME record in CloudFlare? Our sysadmin looked your screenshot before and they didn’t say it’s incorrect, but maybe it didn’t save and that is why it’s not resolving.

    kind regards,

    Kasia

    Hey Kasia,

I removed the SSL Strict in Cloudflare, but now I get the sign in screen, which is what I was originally getting in the beginning. Even though I get red for the domain on whatsmydns, it still appears the domain name is resolving to WPMU correctly. Since it goes to a privacy page (Sign In) on WPMU.

I double check the DNS settings (A Record) on Cloudflare and everything is pointing correctly.

    Thanks,

    Kenn

After further review and troubleshooting/testing on my end, it looks like the problem occurs when try to use a sub-domain (dev.mydomain.com) for the site. Once I used a top-level domain (mydomain.com), added the A record and switched Cloudflare SSL to Full (strict). Everything went smoothly, and I was able to connect the domain to the website.

Now that I was able to get the process down successfully. I’ll be adding the real top-level domain name later this evening, and I will follow-up with you tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Kenn

    Hi Kenn

    How are you today?

I had a closer look at my configuration, adding the domain, and then a CNAME for the subdomain worked fine.
