Our site is hosted with WPMU DEV. Today, after a WordPress update, we tried to upgrade our network (update WordPress on subsites).
While it was running, our CPU resources exceeded limits and we started receiving errors. Our network upgrade failed. We couldn’t create SFTP/SSH accounts. The site analytics stopped showing up.
The hosting team investigated the issue, they found out that disabling the plugins reduces the CPU usage and came to the conclusion that a plugin might be causing the issue. We were suggested to run a plugin conflict test.
On our site, we have Query Monitor installed. We noticed a lot of errors from the Defender plugin. So, we deactivated the Defender plugin and then we were able to run the Network Upgrade successfully, without any errors any further.
We think that the Defender plugin might be causing some issues which are causing our server to bog down. Could you please investigate and see what is wrong?
