[Defender Pro] Defender – FILE SCANNING

Hi there WPMUDEV
I just checked an emailed report by Defender which lead me to Defender – File Scanning – Issues https://paste.pics/7807O to see that Defender was complaining about the file “/var/web/site/public_html/wds-settings-2019-11-10.05-17-07.js”

I looked at the file and it look to me like SmartCrawl crawler data. I don’t know what the “WDS-” filename prefix might stand for, any ideas where this file might have originated from so I can avoid Defender’s reports about it in future?

    Hi Seductful

This is a default SmartCrawl json file which is generate manually from SmartCrawl -> Settings -> Import / Export. When exporting this file your browser asks to save this file on your PC.
There is no option to export SmartCrawl settings to that file and place it on FTP.

Did you export that file during any of the chat sessions or other tickets with us?
Also, Defender will always see such a file as Suspicious File because it is no WordPress core file.
    I recommend deleting that file.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    Hi there WPMUDEV (Kris)

Thanks for the information, I’ll be sure to then delete the file.

To answer your question, no I didn’t deliberately do an export of the SmartCrawl settings and upload it via SFTP, but there are a few open tickets and quite a few WPMUDEV staff working on the site, so maybe it was something someone there did. But not an issue, now I know what it is and what to do with it.

THANKS for all the replies with your name attached to them.
