    Hi T.J. Pierce

I hope you are doing well.

Could you please describe a bit more it?

Indeed, any key that we enter in a database for example a plugin license key should be encrypted out of the box by the developers, but I would like to understand a bit more about the use case scenario here to make sure we are on the same page.

Just a way to further encrypt the API keys in a format like this:

    The original API is 545d4fs5dfd4fsf54dvd1vxcv1cv231xcv32d41fd5
Then a way to easily encrypt is like this DEFENDER_ENCRYPT_{mask first 7-10 characters of API key)545d4fs5dfd4fsf54dvd1vxcv1cv231xcv32d41fd5

    HI T.J. Pierce

Thanks for that but I think my colleague was asking more about the example “use case” rather than technical aspect of how to do encryption.

I mean, what exactly this encryption should be applied to, what API keys – do you mean e.g. API keys/tokens saved to DB by various 3rd-party plugins and themes? Other plugins’ license keys? Or you mean some internal data of Defender specifically?

    Best regards,
    Adam
