[Defender Pro] Latest Update to Defender Kills Custom Settings

It would seem that your most recent update to Defender has reset all our custom settings back to default. For example all our sites have the Masking turned on and setup. Now Masking is off and our previous settings are all gone – allowing anyone to use standard /wpadmin path to try to hack our sites. You are killing us with adding to our workload – now we have to go back in and reset everything that was already done. Not so bad if we only had one web site but we have 50+ sites. KILLING US!

    Hi James Squires ,

Apologies for the issues caused by the plugin update. We had noticed the issue regarding this, and our Defender team has reverted the update asap once it came into our attention.

Our QA team is already working on a new version and will be out soon to fix these anomalies noticed. Until a new release is available, if there are any websites where you need it fixed immediately, you can download version 2.1.4 from the project page to revert the plugin version.

Sorry for any inconvenience due to this.

The problem with reverting to older version is we have to remove the existing version – then when we install version 2.1.4 and REDO all our settings from scratch. Not too bad if its one web site but its over 50+

So we wait for new version.

Saw version 2.2.x installed today. Now there are 1600+ bad files reported within File Scanning. It is finding all our .min files and items in the CSS folders and reporting them. We have had to turn off the WordPress File Scanning feature as it takes hours for it to run through all the files.

Why now this is happening? Never reported these .min files before.
    See image attached.

    Hi James Squires ,

I do get that reverting the version isn’t an easy task if you have the plugin installed for over 50 sites. However, I’m afraid manually reverting to 2.1.4 either via WPMU DEV or via FTP would be a quick workaround at the moment in cases where it requires urgent attention.

I’m afraid, this is more of a false positive, and these files listed are safe. Our team is already working on an update where all the anomalies addressed would be fixed asap.

I’m bringing the issues noticed due to the updates to our developer, and checking regarding the status of the next plugin update which should be available very soon.

We truly apologize for the anomalies you had to face due to the update. Will keep you posted once we get further feedback.

    Hello,

We see version 2.2.2 has been released. We are testing it out.
At this time we see the only setting that seems to NOT be using the existing settings is the
Defender Pro | IP Lockouts | Notifications | Email Notifications
BOTH Login Protection Lockout and 404 Detection Lockout are switched into the ON positions after the update when we had them set to OFF beforehand.

    Hope this helps.
