Does Status plugin post to Facebook?

I have not tried out the Status plugin yet. I am wondering if the status updates post automatically to Facebook (and other social media), posibly via JetPack Publicize which I am also using. This is a news/media web site and I am trying to provide our writers with a way to post a “What we’re working on for you” status update that goes to social media to prime the audience for the story and get any comments, feedback angles, questions from our audience the writer can explore. There is another plugin called WordPress to Facebook which can be set according to categories or post types as a possible mashup, but I wanted to see if this is already achievable with just the Status plugin.
