Error in safemode (email plugin)

i get this error in the premium email plugin:

Warning: set_time_limit() [function.set-time-limit]: Cannot set time limit in safe mode in /home/bloggpro/public_html/wp-content/mu-plugins/mass_mailer.php on line 462

im running on a system that uses cPanel, and im able to turnoff safe_mode, altough i edited php.ini in both mu-plugins and wp-content to say safe_mode: off and it still dosen´t work? what can i do about this?

The webserver may not be seeing it within the subdirectory, especially considering how wpmu jumps around. Try placing php.ini within the root of your webspace. (ie public_html)

Andrew, if you see this, these pages are loading very slowly here. Something up?

I’ve seen all kinds of stupid crap with my portal.

    – Hosts who have no GD or Imagemajick support.

    – Hosts who don’t allow more than 5 inclusions.

    – Hosts who don’t allow include(_once) at all, but allow require(_once).

The list goes on and on. It’s pretty crazy sometimes. Usually, we end up helping them find a better host.

Speaking of hosts, and being reputable, I noticed a banner for “Site5” last night that offered up 110GB of space, 5TB (Yes, with a T) of bandwidth, and 110 domains… all for $5 a month.

Knowing how much their “loved” around these parts by various users… It’s a PRIME example of hosts that are full of sh*t. I’d love to put up a mirror of some Linux distros over there, just to get shut down. lol

    Sorry… // end hijack.

I’ve got to admit that we have a couple of extra security measures put into place with our Direct Admin boxes but we’ve not removed things like GD and the like. (Heck, we’ve even got both GD’s still stalled since there so much out there that still relys on version 1.) We have removed all of the autoinstall programs though as 1) They usually install a nonsecure version of the software and 2) we’d rather install it ourselves and roll in extra themes, plugins and the like. This also gives us a record of what’s been installed so we can keep an eye on upgrading as well.

Wow. I can’t imagine not having one.

I’m tore up between hardware based and software based though. Mainly from a throughput standpoint.

What’s the point of being on a 100MB port for example, when the firewall might cut that down to 40MB?

I guess if it cut it to 50MB, and you ran a load balancer in front of 2 hw firewalls it might work out. But overall, they’re something to be considered with much thought.

At the very least, APF is a must though. I <3 APF.

5TB… crazy. Plain crazy. That’s more than whole servers get.

You know, I’d love to offer up something that looks great, knowing that someone is only going to use 1/100th of it. Last time I checked, that kinda stuff was called false advertising, and was illegal.

    Oh wait, TOS safety net.

Pretty much. I mean even I have a 100gig bandwidth limit in there. I don’t enforce it although I don’t promote that I don’t (ie “Oh you’re only over by 10 gigs. I’m not going to do the paperwork on it. And you help out in the support forums…” I do have it in my ToS though.
