Facebook Photos – Use Crop Instead Of Resize

0

Hi there,

At this time, when I use the photos widget from Ultimate Facebook, the images are resized intto a square. See screenshot below to see what I mean.

Can the images be cropped using a div instead? I believe they will look so much better.

That will be great! Thanks Phil!

Ideally, the scenario will be something like this:

    1) The minimum height or width is 150px (or however the user chooses). This will be the resizing.

    2) The cropping comes to crop off the excess from either the width or height.

    3) Will be great if the cropping occurs on both sides rather than one, but that’s more of a want, not a need.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

There is a new option for cropping images for Album widget in the latest release (v1.1.3, just released), that may be useful for your scenario. The option works together with size option to allow greater flexibility in how you want to display your images.

As before, you can specify one of the sizes (and omit the other one) to make your images scale, rather then stretch. However, that can produce very uneven layout if your images vary greatly in orientation. However, if you now specify both sizes and select “Crop image height” checkbox below sizes, the images will be positioned and scaled, then the excess height will be hidden (“cropped”, which will make your images uniform in size without distortion.

    Hi dev,

Yup I saw that new change from the changelog.

However, I will still prefer that my landscape photos can appear as 80×80 (the size I set) rather than the way that they are now (smaller).

This is how they look like now.

Is there no other way other than uploading square photos? :slight_frown:
