Generation of error log when no update available

Hey guys,

Just want to check if there is any reason for an error log to be created when no updates are found?

"WPMU DEV Upgrader error: update_unavailable – No WordPress core updates appear available"

This error appears in the logs repeatedly.

    If there’s no core update available, that shouldn’t be showing up but there might be exception if for some reasons the core is actually up to date but there’s still an “update available” status reported by WordPress (your site) – either you see it as notification of an update or not but it’s still stored in transient. In such case site says “update necessary” but then there’s a version check and when it turns out that the version is up to date, the error happens.

    It might also happen in case of some unexpected issues but that would have to be checked.

    I think you might want to try to clear the transient on site (there’s a tool in Hummingbird for this in DB cleanup, if you’re using Hummingbird) and server-side cache (if there is any) after that and see if the error will keep coming back.

    Also, is it showing for you for some longer time or did it start to show just today or yesterday?

      Thanks for the reply.

      I have cleared the transients and will monitor it over the next week or so to see if it is generated again. Seems just when you have WordPress figured, there is still so much more to learn :wink:

      The earliest such error that I got was from last year Nov. Since then I think about 8 more have been added to the error log.

        Yeah, there’s always something new to learn. The more I’m dealing with various issues, the more new things/tricks I discover as well. I guess it’s an endless learning experience – but that’s good I think. Everyday brings new challenges :slight_smile:

        Anyway, yes – please keep an eye on the issue and let’s see how it goes. Keep me updated, please, if it happens again and I’ll see what more we could do about it.
