Can not restore a backup

Hi,

Having an issue with Snapshot, even my hosting GoDaddy can’t figure it out. I used the plugin in the past and it worked well but now, I got an error message telling me to increase the limit … And it take all the resource on the server and I can’t try again.

Internal Server Error : The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

I tried placing the zip on another domain and now have a redirection after a minute or so and it tell me that : “Oops! That page can’t be found.”

I even put the .ZIP in “/wp-content/uploads/snapshots/”

but I’ve been redirected to a 404 page with no result :slight_frown:

I’ve checked PHP settings on your site and it looks like now file size, script execution time and memory limits are now set high enough for snapshot to complete.

Why isn’t working ?

Access granted, thank you

    Hi Steven,

    Hope you’re doing well today.

Have you tried creating another snapshot to import, one that is smaller in size, maybe excluding media folder?

This could tell us if Snapshot is having issues altogether or the issue is specific to that snapshot file.

Have you tried importing the same snapshot on another installation, on your localhost or staging site?

    Best regards,

    Predrag

    Hi Predag,

I haven’t though of that, thanks for the tip

Unfortunately, I just tried another attempt without the images and got the same result :slight_frown:

*despite the ZIP file was 2 times less heavy

Perhaps, I’m doing something wrong !?!

Can you give it a try, and see if you’re redirected to a 404 page too ?

    Thanks, later

    Hi Steven,

I have tried running the snapshot on your site and can indeed see the same error, also this is popping up in console:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) admin-ajax.php

So I’ve downloaded your snapshot and tried importing it on my installation, everything went smooth so your snapshot file is good and it’s most likely something related to the server configuration.

You said that you already tried resolving this with GoDaddy, did they mention anything about the console error above or give you any info that could help us here?

Have you tried uploading wp-admin and wp-includes folders from fresh WP installation to see if that will make any difference?

    Best regards,

    Predrag

Problem identified – we’re progressing, thanks Predag

No, I haven’t tried uploading by myself as the WP install is brand new !!

As for GoDaddy, I called them many times and they confirm the problem wasn’t on the server so looks like I’m back to starting case. I’m going to call again and will keep informed.

In the meantime, what do you suggest to do ?

    Thanks, later

    Hi Steven,

I just tried another import of your smaller snapshot, this time on another installation which has much less memory limit and execution time, once again import finished without any problems for me…

I’m starting to get out of ideas here, I’ve forwarded your thread to plugin developer to see if he has some thoughts on this.

    Best regards,

    Predrag

    Hi Predag,

After playing ping-pong with the plugin & GoDaddy for a month : I got an idea

I format the server & I reinstall WP … it didn’t work either so I download the website on my computer and re-upload it on the new server. It took me 2 days but it’s all fine now !!

Sad to say that I didn’t learn something out of this

I used the Snapshot plugin before and all went well.

Got troubles this time and still don’t know why !

*but it doesn’t matter … I can move on now
