Now that Stripe offers this, will WPMUDev be updating the integration with Stripe API to allow local currency ?
Hello,
Starting on April 16, 2024, automatic currency conversion will be enabled for your payment links.
With automatic currency conversion, your global buyers will have the added option to check out in their local currency with their preferred local payment methods, which can help increase revenue by up to 17%. Funds received in overseas currencies will automatically convert and settle in your primary currency in your Stripe balance. Learn more about how currency conversion works from our docs.
If you use Stripe’s APIs or webhooks with your payment links for custom receipts, refunds, or reporting logic, you’ll need to confirm that your integration handles multiple currencies to avoid potential errors, e.g., creating receipts or refunds with the wrong currency. If not, there is no action required to turn on automatic currency conversion.
If you would like to opt out, you can turn automatic currency conversion off in the Dashboard. Please note that our standard transaction fees apply to automatically converted transactions.
If you have any questions, explore our docs or get in touch.
Thanks,
The Stripe team
