How to setup and test WP Multisite

Hi Guys
I currently have 14 subdomains connected to the WPMUDEV hub, all these sites have a very similar setup in both design and plugins used. I would like to migrate all these to multisite hosted by you but I’m not sure of the starting process for migration and how to test this before going live. All sites are ecommerce sites so I have to be careful about downtime. The domain is schoolyardonline.co.uk and as you’ll see I have all the subdomains on my hub site. Any help most appreciated. Hi kenpar ,

When you create a new multisite on our hosting you will get a temp domain and even after you migrate the sites as subsites you will still have the original sites running as they are at the moment.
Only when you point the domains to our hosting then your site will start loading from there, so until that you can do the desired tests without affecting the live site.

As for the migrations of single sites to subsites, I’m afraid that this is not something we can manually migrate for you due to the complexity of those types of migrations and changes needed, it’s not something that we can guarantee will work properly after the migration as we don’t fully know the contents & structure of your website.
When it comes to migrating (importing) Subsites either from Single sites or a different Multisite, there are too many variables that could go wrong due to different database structures in regards to Users as Multisites have 1 global users table, especially when it comes to plugins with custom database tables & updating all data to properly use the new User IDs, this in many cases causes things to malfunction after the migration so it’s not something we can do as we can’t know if the site will work properly after that.

You can try using a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-migrate-db/ and check this guide for further assistance: https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-migrate-db-pro/doc/exporting-single-site-as-subsite-for-multisite-install/
There’s also a solution with All in One migration and their multisite extension but note that this is not free:

As for starting with our hosting, I would suggest checking out our docs page for more information about creating sites and much more about handling your installation:
