[Hub] updates failing from the Hub

On a particular site of mine, when I try updating the plugins from the Hub, I get an error that says “Update Failed” with SSL timeout, however my host confirmed that the SSL is setup and valid.

    Hello corey

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your question!

I checked your site and I see that even though there is a certificate (valid) installed and the site is redirected from http to https, it isn’t actually configured for SSL. For WordPress to properly handle SSL connections (connections over HTTPS) it has to have both “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” options set to use “https://” prefix.

Currently they are set to use “http://” prefix on your site.

I didn’t change them because apparently cPanel credentials that you shared with me are no longer valid and in case this would cause some unexpected redirects, I wouldn’t be able to undo changes.

Could you please change it? Just make sure that for both options address starts with “https://” instead of “http://”. You’ll find these options on “Settings -> General” page in your site’s backend.

It’s also important for The Hub because this is exactly where it takes site address from and if the protocol doesn’t match the protocol the site is using/registered with, it would cause API connection issues that might result in e.g. problems with Uptime monitoring, updates etc.

Once the change is made, please make sure that you cleared all the caches on site and server and see if that solves the issue. If not, please wait a few hours (as some site information in The Hub are updated with the delay) and check again.

If that still doesn’t work then, let me know please and I’ll investigate it further.

    Best regards,

    Adam
