With the release of WordPress 6.8, speculative loading (using the Speculation Rules API) is now available by default. This feature can significantly improve perceived page load speeds, but it can also increase server load or conflict with some site configurations.
It would be fantastic if Hummingbird could include an option to control speculative loading directly within the plugin’s settings. Specifically, it would be helpful to:
– Enable or disable speculative loading
– Choose between prefetch and prerender modes
– Adjust the eagerness level (or provide a simple toggle between low/medium/high)
This would give site owners and developers an easy way to fine-tune speculative loading based on their site’s needs and hosting resources.
