Idea for a new plugin

0

I have been looking ofr a plugin where users can save their favorite articles and files for future reading.

I found this http://nxsn.com/my-projects/wp-favorite-posts-plugin but I dont think it supports MU. This would be a great plugin if it could track across MU blogs and can be shown in a users profile.

Also would be good if you could do a widget like "Most Saved".

I’m still wondering how much people would use that though.

It may just be me but if I want to save something to read later on I’m not going to us a feature that requires me to 1) visit the site and then 2) click on the ‘favorite’ article when I could just click a browser bookmark and go straight to the article.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Andrew, you had mentioned previously a Profile plugin. Might be kind of interesting to add this feature to that. Off the top of my head, give a "Mark as favorite" link that one could either add to the blog or an admin bar if you use such and when you go to the user’s profile page, just display the last ten or so. Just dump the urls into the usermeta or something like that.

I implemented this existing plugin to my site channeltechcenter.com

right now it’s simply another form of popularity plugin, but I’m adding a revamped research center — which in that case this plugin will be cool.

If I’m researching VOIP solutions I would want to favorite all the applicable documents for review/dl later.

Also I’d like to create some pre-packed favorites (i.e. 15 links that are good for Cluster servers technology, etc).

I’m also put it on my list to be able to append the fav list to each users profile.
