Incompatibility with Q&A Plugin

0

I think I’ve run into an issue using Ultimate Facebook with your Q&A Plugin.

Everything works fine except for autoposting questions that are created on the front-end. When I create a question directly in the back end, it is successfully posted to the Facebook Page I’ve created.

But when I post a question from the front-end (as the vast majority of my users will do) the question is never autoposted.

Please advise or let me know if its a configuration issue on my end.

thanks.

    Hiya,

To me, this is more of a feature request than a bug. I’ve just mentioned the idea of these two working together to the developers. It’ll take a bit of work to get things going and I’d love to see if other members are interested in seeing this.

How bout it folks? Any +1s on this?

    Thanks!

thanks for looking into this! the bug vs. feature request debate is one i’ll avoid – had that one a few too many times

in support of this I will say that this is an advertised feature of a number of other Q&A plugins/platforms out on the market (auto-tweet and auto-facebook questions and answers) and it seems like an important integration to keep the WPMU version competitive in the age of social media

i’d love to just use the WPMU Facebook plugin rather than have to integrate with someone else’s Facebook plugin

+1 its a nice and useful feature but the activity stream integration and better subscription management are more important imo.

And of course Ultimate Facebook has to work with Buddypress again to allow user registrations… but the UFB dev is already aware of this bug and I hope we get a fix for this problem soon.

    Hi,

I believe this issue is caused by front-side posting, as UFb differentiates between “admin” and “public” sides of your site. I understand that this is far from optimal if you want to use it together with a front-end posting plugin, and we’ll be looking into supporting these use cases as well in the next version.

    Hi,

The support for frontend posting plugins was introduced in the latest plugin release (v1.4.2, just released). It is optional, meaning that you can switch it on and off. If you wish to enable autoposting for your frontend posting plugins, navigate to your plugin settings and make sure that “Allow fontend autoposting to Facebook” checkbox in “Autopost to Facebook” section is checked.

Unfortunately, this is quite different from the other problem you mentioned (WP autoembeds with Q&A WYSIWYG editor), so it will not take care of that.
