Limit to friends of groups

Currently, the chat allows all users of the site to see everyone else’s chats. Is there a way to limit the chat to a particular user or group?

    Hi ncms and welcome to WPMU DEV!

    Hope you don’t mind my moving this to the feature suggestion forum as there’s not a way currently to restrict who sees what in the chat, though that’s being looked at for a future version. With this being in the feature suggestion thread we can get a good idea for community support for the features.

    Any +1s?
