Login Pages don't re-direct to the mapped domain

Hi there,

I hope you're well.

Since the recent updates to the Domain Mapping plugin I'm finding that, despite the fact my settings are for login pages to use the mapped domain, when I click on the 'dashboard' link for a sub-site from within the 'Sites' page, the admin pages open up in the original domain, rather than re-directing to the mapped domain, as they used to do.

Please can you look in to this for me?

Kindest regards,

Steve

    Hi Ash,

I tried that before contacting you but have done it again. However, I can still access the admin area using both the mapped domain and the original domain, despite the fact that the settings are set to ‘Mapped Domain’ only.

I’ve granted support access and have also added the details of a SuperAdmin user account in the notes section, just in case you need that.

Please do bear in mind that there are live client sites within the multisite.

    Have a great day.

    Kindest regards,

    Steve

    Hi Ash,

    I've been doing some work on my multisite and have found some additional problems with the Domain Mapping;

    1) Even though Domain Mapping's setup to log users in to all of their websites on the network, that function isn't working. If I login to one subsite and then go to the admin area of another I get re-directed to the login screen for that domain.

    2) If I try to visit a mapped domain using the original domain I don't get diverted to the mapped domain but can access the site via the original domain, which means that the site is appearing in two forms on the internet and, I assume, being indexed twice. This duplication could lead to issues with SEO due to duplicate content. Here are a couple of screen shots;

    Here's the mapped domain:

Here's the same site using the original domain:

    Regards,

    Steve

    Hi Kasia,

Apologies for the delay getting back to you but I found a workaround that solved the problem, in the short term: editing the domain url in the ‘Sites’ management page i.e. using the WordPress Domain Mapping Feature in addition to your plugin. This solved the problem of both versions of the domain being accessible.

I noticed that this beta version is an older number than the current version – which is still causing me problems. Do you still want me to test this?

    Regards,

    Steve

    Hi Kasia,

I replaced the usual Domain Mapping plugin with the beta version and it doesn’t appeared to have made any difference. I can still get to the admin pages via the mapped domain and original domain, unless I use the workaround I mentioned above.

I did have a problem mapping a new domain, yesterday, and live chat also advised trying the beta version, which did solve that problem – but nothing else appears to have changed, including the fact that all my mapped domains still show as invalid.

It seems very odd that this plugin used to work seamlessly and it’s only some of the more recent changes/updates that have led to these issues.

    Regards,

    Steve

Hello Steve – Just Think BiG

Since the issues you are describing should have been resolved with the latest release of Domain Mapping, I’m going to go ahead and escalate this ticket to our Devs so they can investigate this further for you.

Thank you for providing WordPress access; however, for our team to adequately investigate this issue, it would be very helpful if we could have FTP access so we can enable WP_DEBUG as well as apply any patches. Would you please send us access to the server as Nithin requested. Here’s the format that works best for quick reference:

    Hi Kasia,

Any chance of finding out when they may have some kind of answer?

Also, in my reply to James, I mentioned another issue I’m having regarding the fact that I’m constantly receiving emails notifying me of a cancelled event. The error can be seen in the log.

I’m very keen to get an answer to this as I’m fed up with receiving 20 – 40 emails a day.

Or would I be better to raise this as a separate issue on its own ticket?

    Regards,

    Steve
