Managed backups are not working on the site, snaphots do but randomly

I’m trying to create a managed backup of my multisite, but it is not working.

I’m getting this:

“REQUEST TIMEOUT

This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase ‘Connection Timeout’.”

For snapshots, I was first getting this:

“An unknown response returned from Snapshot backup attempt. Aborting. Double check Snapsoht settings”

But after a few attempts, I was finally able to create a snapshot of the main site.

      Hello, Kasia

I tried it on my end. It didn’t work on the first time, but I tried again and it worked (on my main network).

I copied the mu-plugin you added to another network and it didn’t work over there, even after countless attempts.

I noticed on my cPanel that I hit my I/O usage limit those times it didn’t work. That’s probably what’s causing, right? Is there any workaround to this so it can work on my shared server?

      Thank you

    Hello Pedro,

Yes, in most of the cases the I/O usage limit is causing this – can you ask your hosting provider to increase the limit for I/O usage?

I am checking with our of our developers if there is a any workaround that will allow backups to work in this case, I will let you know if they will come up with something.

    kind regards,

    Kasia
