Multi-db – connecting to global db but not the child db's

Hi, we recently upgraded servers and are trying to figure out why the main DB is connecting fine …ie we can access http://yovia.com/blogs/ (parent) but not http://yovia.com/blogs/blogname (child)…anyone have any idea or seen this before? We simply get 404 errors on each child blog
