Multiple Website Outages

Hey guys,

Seems I may have jinxed you in a previous ticket when I praised your 100% uptime. Since then I have had 17 outages amounting to 4hrs25min of downtime (according to uptime from the hub)

Could you see what the issue is please?

    This seems to be a false-positive notification. Let me first quote the following:

    Uptime monitoring pings your site every 2 minutes and if your site did not respond or your HomePage took more then 30 sec to load it will send you a notice.

    Having said that, I can see that the Uptime response times are between 1 and 2 minutes.

    and the reported errors code are all 521 which seems like a Cloudflare erroring in the uptime request, most probably because it needed more than 2 minutes, not because the server was indeed down.

    The origin server has refused the connection from Cloudflare.

    I have the same issue, monitoring emails me every few minutes:

    Our systems have detected that your site – https://www.itservicesgoldcoast.com/ – went down on Mar 31, 2019 3:47am and is returning “HTTP Status code is 521

    Then

    Good news! Our systems have detected that your site – https://www.itservicesgoldcoast.com/ – went down for 7m but is back up and running, as of Mar 31, 2019 3:55am.

    They are always error 521.

    if this is in-fact a false positive, how do I exclude/avoid it? I need the uptime monitoring to accurately reflect my up/downtime on an on-going basis (with Cloudflare enabled) otherwise it’s a useless tool. I know WPMUDEVs Hummingbird is integrated with Cloudflares API (I have this enabled), can you not use the API to communicate with Cloudflare to eliminate this issue in some way?

      As mentioned in my initial reply the 2 minutes are due to the way our Uptime works:

      I’m afraid there’s no way to exclude it currently. This is also happening cause the HEAD requests that Uptime sends are being sent from the US currently, so if the physical location of the server is very far away, then the response times are getting increased. This is already known to us and we do have plans to add more Uptime servers in order to provide more stable service.

      The integration that HummingBird has with CloudFlare is only about the browser’s caching, so you can purge that from your WP site instead of going to CloudFlare’s site.

      Our Uptime service just sends a HEAD request to your domain and measures the Time To First Byte in the response of that request.
