Hello!

I have searched after some plugin that realy would make wpmu complete:

Simple plugin showing stats for each blog (hits)

More frontpage templates with ready to go plugin showing posts, top posts, recent comments etc allowing to show

avatars and gravatars.

Plugin that shows popular bloggers on the frontpage in nice frame with their avatars like wordpress.com

Embedding video is there other plugins than vipers video??

Today you have to get a lot of plugins to make the site complete

If anybody can make a plugin package with just one install and then chose what you want for your wpmu site…

If anybody can make a plugin package with just one install and then chose what you want for your wpmu site.

That will probably never happen. I’m sure the folks here who do installs for a living will tell you that no two mu installs are the same. I for one do not use Viper’s video plugin. We use this one: Link. Works very well for us, our clients, and the little people at the pointy end of the stick.

edit: Although I wonder if maybe that’s what they had in mind with buddypress.

reedit: I know on my installs as well, we try our best to stay away from what wp.com does with theirs and what’s included as an example with the home theme. I still see no reason why to list the newest blogs as 99% of the time, they’re either empty or splogs. Ditto on the recently updated list as well. (Although it’s been suggested not to do that until a blog has at least 5 or so posts.)

@Andrew, here’s an idea for featured blogs:

Since very few people actually use the “mature blogs” flag…why not use it as a way to mark a blog as being “featured”. Then we use the built-in list blogs function to list blogs marked as featured/mature. From there it should be pretty easy to add things like blog admin avatar, blog description and maybe the title of the last post.

Of course, plugins like Andreas Recent Post would have to be edited to include mature blogs.

Can that work ..or am i off as usual

Or do you guys already have a Featured blogs plugin lined up for release ?

Mainly because it would keep that site out of sitewide listings, pings, etc.

I’ve got a featured blog/post plugin in the pipes, but it will be after the first of the year before it hits the release list.

If someone (like me) were to make a bundle like that, it would be… expensive.

For one, it would have to have some price attached or there woudl suddenly be 1873640178560 identical sites out there. For another, a lot of the “simple” things on the list actually take some work.

So just keep that in mind.

I will say though, as one of those people who does installs for a living that each one really is different. Why install a bunch of things in one bundle if you might not use them all? Better to hand-pick all the features you want. It shows in the end product.
