New user activation link takes to 404 error page

The activation link for New user email goes to network site and not the subsite link. Also it is an error page

Here is the info and link sent:

“Thanks for registering! To complete the activation of your account please click the following link:

http://genlarklin.com/activate/?key=c9492f1dddd8ea34″

the subsite this user activating is bruce.genlarlin.com

seems that should be a part of link above. As you see error page as well. Thanks

    Registration on WordPress multisite are done on the main site and not the subsites. If you want people to register on subsites, you should look at using something like : http://wordpress.org/plugins/join-my-multisite/

    Now coming to the issue, the activation link shows a 404, which means something somewhere is not right. Did you make any custom mods ?

    Can you kindly check the registration process with all other plugins disabled and by putting the site on the default 2013 theme and see if that works ?

    Please advise !

    I, as super admin, created the admin user for that one site. I did not check “skip email notification” so user (actual one of my emails) has to click link in email to complete registration. The user is not visible now. Tried to create the user again and said User is pending.

    It is the default theme. Brand new sub site. no plugins activated yet on that site.
