Not a "Main Domain" Install – Domain Mapping NOT Working

HELP!

I am trying to install a WPMU on an Add-On Domain. Not the one that points to “/public_html“, but to a different folder on my server.

When ever I type in one of the domains that I created as an “Alias” domain, it still points to the server “Main Domain” which is installed on “/public_html“, but I need it to go to my folder “/boofolaworks_com“.

I have done all of the steps that you would normally do to setup a multisite. (“The Ultimate Guide to WordPress Multisite – by the Awesome people at WPMUDEV:wink: [Is that a direct quote or did I goof that up a little? Tee-Hee-Hee :innocent: ]

I have clicked on “Disable Redirection” in the Domain Alias control.

I am running Apache on a cPanel install.

What am I doing wrong here or how do I fix this?

I have tried to redirect the domain, I have tried anything that I could think of, and have exhausted Google for an answer, but I might just be typing in the wrong search parameters.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Even though I’m guessing the reward is as mythical as the pickup location (Antiartica), I’ll take a stab…

Your first issue stems from your base folder location:
[attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

    If you don’t have /public_html/subdomain,
    and only have /subdomain,
then the pointer implies that you have two base WWW folders.

It’s hard to debug it much more without properly pointing the domain root. But, that in itself, might provide your desired results. …just also be sure that owner:nobody is owner of the sub-folder, and /sub-folder has proper .htaccess rules in place.

          Patrick Freitas ,

          Please Help!

I have done what splaquet suggested and then installed everything under a sub-domain in the “public_html” to be “public_html/boofolaworks” and it still just goes to the main “public_html” install.

I just can’t believe that there isn’t a way around this issue?

I would think that you should be able to have 100 multisites on 1 server if you wanted to. Any ideas on how to do/fix this?

At the moment since I need to get this up and going I am just going to create another cPanel account in my WHM. I just would like to find another way around this not only for myself but for others.

If you are able to help, or anyone else that would like to help with this, it would be greatly appreciated!

          Thank you!

I am in the US just like you. In fact, we do not seem to be too far away from each other since you are in West Hartford, Connecticut and I am in Pennsylvania right on the New York border.

Do you mind if I contact you for some design work?

      Thanks!

Boofola” is a very Old-English word, back in the days of Shakespeare that means “A joke that gets loud and boisterous.” Old Willy Shake himself might have just been the one to coin the word, he was known to have created several of his own words.

I chose that name because this whole thing started out as a joke with my now deceased mother. My hopes are that it will someday get big, so “loud“.

I had never actually heard the word “boofing” until you just sent that. I had to look it up. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I had no idea about that! Why would?!?! Just WHAT?!?!

Unfortunately, many words have been corrupted over time, or other words created. I am really unable to change things at this time, but now I will know something a little more about a new word in my vocabulary.

I can’t stop laughing right now!
